In silico detection of Cucurbitacin-E on antioxidant enzymes of model organism Galleria mellonella L. (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) and variation of antioxidant enzyme activities and lipid peroxidation in treated larvae

Abstract Background In silico studies further provided predictive binding properties of selected ligands for inhibition target protein. the study, molecular poses Cucurbitacin-E and antioxidant enzymes (glutathione-S-transferase (GST), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione reductase (GR), peroxidase (GPx) acetylcholinesterase (AChE) Galleria mellonella were determined in silico. Cucurbitacins are most important components Ecballium elaterium . The first cucurbitacin isolated from plant was Cucurbitacin-E. this toxic effect E. (L.) A. Rich. (Cucurbitaceae) fruit juice on G. (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) larvae, which is known as a good model insect, also detected, its enzyme activities lipid peroxidation revealed. Results tested larvae with different doses 24 h. After application, mortality rate, LC 50 , 90 99 values, malondialdehyde (MDA) level activity changes determined. Mortality increased increasing concentration juice. Also, essential oil caused decreasing SOD, CAT, GST GPx, GR AChE MDA levels. As result studies, maximum energy obtained CAT Cucurbitacin E ligand. Conclusions This study to demonstrate potential enzymes. results indicate that can be used against pest control program. Graphical
